For a long time, when you searched for this station on live365's servers, ALR would show up as "Anime on DVD Lemming Radio".

If you go to live365 and search for "anime on dvd", you'll see two old stations, both of which are no longer publicly airing.

Those were the original two, set up by some friends of mine from #animedvd IRC one quiet day. Since everyone else was doing it, I felt like doing it too...sort of like a lemming that follows the leader blindly...so I set up "AnimeLemming Radio".

Get it? ^_^

The original basis of the playlist was songs which I liked and which friends from IRC liked - thus originally there was a heavy, heavy Two-Mix influence, as they were my favorite at the time.

Longtime listeners will remember that 95% of the playlist was generally upbeat, fast songs. Back then, I never expected anyone to listen. Then a few friends from the IRC channel started listening and enjoying it, and at some point while I was offline and moving houses, about three-hundred other listeners started tuning in regularly.

Now, with somewhere in the neighborhood of a thousand listeners (no kidding!) I tend to add songs which are requested, or songs which I feel people are hearing often and might enjoy, or will hear soon.

So, there you have it...the secret behind "AnimeLemming Radio"'s name.
